About Meløy Adventure
Meløy Adventure AS was founded in 2016, after a few years as a hobby concept. We saw an opportunity to offer a variety of tours in the region to tourists, groups, and others looking for unique experiences.
Since 2016, the hobby has grown into a full-time job. In the winter of 2020, the regular day job was left behind—just before COVID-19 spread and Norway shut down. At the same time, we brought on a full-time guide for kayak tours during the summer.
That turned out to be the breakthrough. Domestic travel in Norway became a success for us, and suddenly we had five full-time guides working all summer. In 2021, the number of guides (and a photographer) grew to eight. We are better prepared than ever and have expanded our gear inventory with lots of new equipment. Welcome to Meløy!
Glomfjord is located roughly in the middle of Meløy, along the scenic FV17 Coastal Route. At the end of the fjord, we rent out rooms in what's known locally as "Gulbrakka"—a building erected in 1949 during the post-WWII hydropower development at Øvre Navervann, Sandvann, and Tærskald. Gulbrakka offers simple, authentic accommodation, nearly identical to when the mountain workers (rallarer) lived here 70 years ago. The view from the living room and several rooms looks out over Statkraft's historic power station at Fykan. We want Gulbrakka to be well-visited and do everything we can to make our guests feel at home.
Our most popular tour is an ice hike on Svartisen glacier using crampons and an ice axe. Imagine an evening tour in golden sunlight, full of challenges that are easily overcome in the joy of experiencing and mastering some of the best nature Norway has to offer. Private glacier tours can be arranged upon request for you and your friends.
A RIB tour to Rødøya and hike up Rødøyløva is also very popular. The view from the top at 443 meters above sea level is stunning. On the way there or back, we can almost guarantee a glimpse of the majestic sea eagle. Did you know a fully grown sea eagle can have a wingspan of over two meters?
We also offer kayak paddling, e-bike tours with full-suspension electric bikes, and visits to Meløy’s only lighthouse at Kalsholmen.

Øyvind Gjersvik is the owner and founder of Meløy Adventure. The company grew out of his passion for the majestic mountains surrounding Glomfjord, and the magical fjords and islands throughout Meløy and the nearby areas.
